A Return to Progress.

Back from vacation! I finished up a Wild West Exodus group for a small commission I did, but I won't have pictures until I get the last model of the army (he didn't receive one in the box like he should have, so waiting for it to arrive now).

But this is exciting times, since the local Warmachine/Hordes Journeyman League has begun in my area and I've already gotten in two games. I won both of them, but each was by picking on the weakest link of my opponent's armies (either their 'caster or jacks/beasts). The downside is that I really wanted to battle report each game in the League, and I totally forgot to grab pictures (as I always do). I'm tempted to  write "BAT REP!" on the back of Deneghra's base so I will remember. :P

Quick Summary;
Game 1, Cryx versus Retribution (alternate battle box)
------

Deployment is basic at this level, and the scenario is Tooth'n'Claw/Mangled Metal. His caster was weak, so I closed the gap as quickly as possible to just outnumber and out spell/feat. He wrecked my Slayer on it's way, but I camped Deneghra on all her focus at the bottom of Turn 2, so he wasn't able to take her out (Def 16/Arm 20 for the win). He threw the Slayer at Deneghra, but missed. It would have been game if he hit, so in that respects it was luck he didn't hit. I shouldn't have played it so relaxed to have allowed that to happen. Anyways, that throw wrecked the Slayer and basically won me the game. I charged his caster with a feat and Crippling Grasp up, so the win was easy after my ability to "not die before then". :P

Game 2, Cryx versus Skorne (official battle box)
------

This game was very similar to the Ret game, only his caster was strong and his 'beasts were the "easy targets". On feat turn, I tossed Crippling Grasp on his Gladiator and ended up killing it with jacks and spells. My Slayer chared a full Savage and took him down while I managed to finish off the other Savage next turn. I think that's how it went. The game was sort of null because my opponent didn't realize we were playing Scenario, which is mandatory for League games. I won, but nothing to really flaunt. Not that there is in a League.

Both of my opponent's are far from new to Warmachine/Hordes, so I wasn't worried about helping them out or anything, either. :P There was a new player who also invested in the battle box of Cryx, so it was nice helping him a bit while he played the same Ret player I did. I should get in some more games on Wednesday when I head down there, and I'll try to remember to put "BAT REP!" on Deneghra so I can remember to take pictures for a Bat Rep. Not that they're exciting at this level of play, but just to get in the grove of doing them so I don't keep forgetting and never really getting any up on this blog!

--------------------------------

The thing I'm very excited about is that I've fully sold my Black Templar and Space Marine stuff and have finished out all my eBay auctions. Everything is sold and sent and everything I've purchased is here. All of my Necrons are put together and I have nothing on my painting table. My entire hobby schedule has been cleared for the League, and I expect to paint quite a bit of Cryx stuff. Deneghra is already finished, but I'll wait for the 'jacks to be done before I start taking pictures. This morning I finished basing my Soulhunters (max), x2 Nightwrecthes, Deathjack, Eerebus, Necrotek and Scrapthrall, Machine Wraith, and a Warwitch Siren, so I have plenty to start painting soon!
