An example:
As you can see, it's not too bad. At this point, I hadn't "caulked" the edges of where each box meets another with hot glue, which not only provides better structural support, but once painted will obscure the fact they were just gift boxes glued together in the first place. The above showcases the sample buildings I made, and I tore them to shreds seeing how strong they were, as well as tested some other ways to keep them sturdy. The end result is very positive, and I ended up with:
Don't mind the towels there. :P I had to cover up the board below to make the demonstration easier on the eyes since I haven't gotten a gaming mat and the board is currently very heavy in multiple colors. But the result, as you can see, is an easy to store and transport modular building "block", that allows for many different board layouts.
The last image shows the very beginnings of my scatter terrain creations. I'll go into further tutorials and whatnot on how to build the board and what to purchase, but for now this gives you an idea of my Infinity plans. This table is less than half of all the materials I purchased, so another table will be created alongside this so my local gaming store will have some modest Infinity focused terrain.
That's a really cool looking layout. Are you going to give a more detailed look at the construction process?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I donated this stuff before I thought about a tutorial to build it. I'm more than happy to explain, sans pictures, any particular element you're curious about.
