I painted a Warcaster and a Solo up for some buddies at my local gaming store for their Skorne armies, so that sort of slowed down a bit of progress on anything. But it's not like I'm looking to speed through anything at the moment.
I'm really happy with the 75 points of Cryx came out, but now I need a break from Cryx as far as painting is concerned. I currently have three major projects in the works:
• Finish assembling my Wood Elves and start thinking about customization, conversions, and painting themes. I'm thinking Winter, for sure.
• Wait for my recently purchased Circle of Orboros to arrive from a really lucky auction I won. 100 bucks for almost 400 bucks worth of miniatures? Yeah, that's definitely worth it. The bonus part of it is it's basically a Kromac army, which I've been dieing to play/paint. Mainly paint. I have some serious ideas revolving basing and painting, as I've been thinking about it for a few months now without miniatures at my fingertips. But now I have the miniatures. So, woot!
• Thornfall Alliance 15-point army. Really excited about these guys as a little "play" army. I have some pretty over the top bases already created for these guys, just a bit more work before they're finished. Most of these guys are unassembled, and none are ready for painting, but I'm not on a time limit or anything.
• Prep my next Cryx list for painting. I'm really thinking Mortenebra is where I want to be, but I'm being really lazy when it comes to having to assemble the Deathjack and his bestest pal Nightmare for the list.
And the big thing...
• Learn to paint with an airbrush. Yeah, that's correct. I've decided to dig my feet in and go all out with miniature painting. I feel I'm at a really good place artistically where my painting is getting better with each model, and I am confident enough in my skill to try to take it to the next level with airbrush techniques added into the mix. I've been reserved for awhile on purchasing one, but that's because I've seen a lot of miniatures painted up with pretty much strictly an airbrush - and they look horrible. Ugh, so ugly. But I am aware of what an airbrush can bring to my painting, and already learning to paint quickly, I hope it speeds up things a lot so I can start doing some serious commission work!
I'll probably practice and learn the basics of airbrushing on some Black Templar 40k stuff, and go from there with it. I've recently sold a lot of my spare models and misc. armies I've had laying around, so finishing up some serious paint jobs fast enough to sell them off as well would be really nice. I'm fine having 4-5 serious armies and just having fun with models and trying to make a bit of cash on the side. So here's hoping it works out.
As for tonight, I'm hoping to get in a 1,500 point Warhammer Fantasy game in. If I do, I'll try my best to remember to do a battle report. If not, I'll atleast do a recap. I've modified my 1,500 point Wood Elf army to this:
-Spellweaver, level 4, dispel scroll, asrai longbow
-Waystalker
-Waystalker
-Glade Guard, x10, Hagbane, Musician, Standard
-Glade Guard, x10, Hagbane, Musician, Standard
-Glade Guard, x10, Hagbane, Musician, Standard
-Wild Riders x5
-Wild Riders x5
-Waywatchers x5
-Waywatchers x5
-Great Eagle
-Great Eagle
1,500 points exactly. I know the Wild Riders would be much better off with a Banner/Musician, but I've been rushing to put them together and they are sans riders until after painting. So to spare confusion for myself and for my opponent, I'll just keep them bare until they are ready for action. It's my loss, so I can deal with it.
