Haqqislam continues...

I grabbed a shot of my painted models thus far:

Painting on the new camo tokens will take place Wednesday:

And then I have three more models to complete before I can move on to having a bit more diversity:

Work in Progress - Tuareg Hacker

This is some real WiP here, but I've been cutting corners to speed up the process to get these guys done. It's not what I wanted to do overall, but the end quality doesn't differ too much from the longer processes, and since it's all just for tabletop play anyways I'm fine with the little loss of quality for the increased speed. There isn't really a reason for doing all the base colors first, I just wanted to make sure I had a good foundation before moving on to some select washes and glazes, which are complete in the picture. Now it's just feathering in the highlight colors for each section, which shouldn't take too long.

EDIT: And he's finished:

Blurry Fiday.

My painting schedule doesn't usually get allocated time for picture taking, so these came out a bit blurry and was already running out the door to get to work. I'm taking army group shots when everything is finished, so better pics will come then.

And the Lasiq is finally finished.

Hopefully I can pump out the next few pretty quickly.

This guy got off to a bit of a rocky start. Not sure exactly what it was, but I ended up falling into some old shortcuts and washes and most of the way through this guy had me pretty worried I'd need to start over. It cost me time to recover, but I'm satisfied with the end tabletop result.

Remote controlled bases.

Oh yeah, I finished my Haqqislam remote. Forgot to update with a photo:

And this morning ended up being pretty slow. I just finished off the bases on my next Haqqislam painting line-up. Lasiq is going to be first. Because she deserves to be first:

I'm hoping to be done with the Lasiq by Thursday morning and am going to make some empty bases tomorrow morning for matching army markers for camo and impersonation.

Haqqislam and Legion update.

I need to get to painting again, but I have that all set up to knock out  a few models this week:

That finishes out the simple airbrush work done to those models in particular, so all I need to do is sit down and push through all the other colors, black-lining, bases, etc. Shouldn't take too long, and hoping to finish 1 or 2 by Wednesday.

On the Legion front, I put together quite a few more models and prepped 5 of them to paint. I still need to take off a few mold lines, but that's not a real issue since I need to put these on the airbrushing table so can quickly re-prime select areas then. The big progress is the basing, as I like the way they came out. Smaller models don't usual warrant huge basing elements, so I stuck to tree roots and whatnot. It was incredibly easy to sculpt this stuff, so I just need to mock up an Objective and try to see how this stuff will look painted up.

Haqqislam Remote WiP.

Not to totally turn this blog into a paint log, but here's another bit of progress going on this week:

Haqqislam Remote

Pretty quick progress. The airbrushing and base was done alongside Tarik, so the tan parts and metal bits were all done in about an hour and a half this morning. The metal still has the drying glaze on it, so once that's all finished up I'll hit the key highlights with white and move on. It's a relatively small list of stuff to paint, so I expect this to be finished by tomorrow morning so I can rock out some terrain that needs painting for my Wednesday progress.

Warmachine/Hordes:

So, how's Cygnar going? Well, painting progress has slowed to a halt while whipping out the Haqqislam army for video battle reports. The more experienced of a painter I become, the more I want to focus on single models (hence why I almost hit a dead stop on my first Cygnaran unit). This doesn't bode well for my Warmachine armies overall. So I used some of my local gaming store credit and grabbed another army to fiddle around with - Legion. Considering it is THE faction for being able to pretty much avoid almost any units and still be a strong and competitive army is going to say a lot for it in the long run with me. I'll give it a go, and get to painting it once Haqqislam is all finished up. In the meantime I'm just basing and building in my spare time and going to try to get a few games in to see how, and if, I like it. I do love fury, and I do love Warbeasts. Being able to paint 10 individual models over time and have them in almost 75% of my lists is also a huge, huge sell to the army.

The Barid is finished.

Happy with the speed it took for the quality it ended up. Hopefully I can keep that pace.

Haqqislam Bases

Here's a shot of the bases. They are completed, and just require a quick watered down layer of wood glue to help seal and protect their structural integrity while gaming.

Step by step:

- Glue minis feet down using small globs of green stuff.
- Glue spots of ballast down (using dirt/gravel from the curb of my street)
- Cover the rest of the base area with Agrellan Earth for cracking effect.
- Spot Modeling Paste for extra texture and unsightly clean ups.
- Add extras (in the case of these three it was just small amounts of tiny wood pieces and a very small amount of static flock.

I also spent about 5 hours on Friday building a terrain board. It's some pretty quick work and there's still a lot to be done and to add to it, but here's how it's looking so far:

Kasym Beg is finished.

Alright, got him out of my system. It'll be nice to move on to painting some smaller models, sans bikes, and not having to clone paint jobs. Repetition is boring, so painting a mounted and dismounted guy at the same time is lame. I'm happy with the results, though, and will post better pictures in the morning when I have energy and finish the touch ups I missed earlier.

I do plan to add a tattoo later on, but I tried something complicated and realized it just wasn't up to where I'd like it.

Kasym Beg - WiP - Updates : 2

Finished the base off this morning after my first go with pigments. The color of the bike is almost complete, just some shading and black lining left to do. Then it's painting on the fire so I can move on to the NMM.

Arrgh! Why can't I focus?

Really stoked about Infinity, even after a great game of Warmachine yesterday. Oh well. I'm at a crucial decision in regards to my Haqqislam - Non-metal Metallics or True Metal Metallics? Base work in progress:
